It all starts with a story…a story that does not always reflect who we truly are as individuals.Unfortunately, a story that does not match with our true inner desires and aspirations.
And I’m not here talking about our storytelling but rather about our “storycreating”;the ones that we assume keep us safe while straying away from the reality of life.
The truth is that those stories are only false accusations we make up to really reinforce who we have been conditioned to think we are and who we are not.And then we start to live as if our story is true.Not only true to us but also to the rest of the world to again,leaving us living accordingly…
We are alsmost unable to shut that inner voice constantly reminding us that we are not good enough,we are not worthy of love,we cannot achieve anything…those negative affirmations are so engrained in our mind that they become the building blocks of our reality.
Imagine you have been waiting for so long to get that promotion believing you are not worthy of it, to then see someone else getting that promotion ahead of you..that promotion will only confirm that particular belief .
Those self limiting beliefs hold us back from achieving our dreams and do the things we want to do.They dictate the way we behave in life and inhibit our progress to finally turn us into fearful individuals who are afraid to live life to its fullest potential.
They are like forces that prevent us from putting forward our best self!
BUT WHERE DO THOSE LIMITING BELIEFS COME FROM?
They actually originate from experiences,events ,our childhood,and as we subconsciously internalize fear and insecurity around them,they drive our behavior and choices in a very subtle but also powerful manner.
Let’s say that the interpretation your mind gave to a particular painful experience in your life would be YOUR LIMITING BELIEF.
“Money is difficult to earn and I never earn enough”
‘’I need to stick to easy tasks because I can’t handle challenges’’
‘’I am only appreciated when I succeed’’
‘’I shouldn’t speak my mind because I always get contradicted’’
You adopted beliefs that told you how to behave and survive in a given moment so that you do not feel rejected and hurt.And as you grow, so do those beliefs…They keep showing in your life as fears,low self confidence,procrastination and lack of motivation but you keep holding on to them to protect yourself from struggle and failure.
BUT HEY LISTEN!
I am here to tell you that YOU CAN overcome those beliefs.I also do understand that they have been such a negative part of your life for so long that feel normal and that making a conscious effort to address and remove them,will not happen overnight.
Remember this old saying;’’YOU WILL MISS 100% OF THE SHOTS THAT YOU NEVER TAKE’’.
Be gentle,kind,flexible and easy on yourself.
Ask yourself those questions…
What are those limiting beliefs?
Where do they come from?
What if I was wrong and my limiting beliefs not true?
How is this belief serving me?
Can I create alternative beliefs?
Which one would they be?
Take actions.Write down how a certain belief has held you back.Welcome and allow all the emotions resurfacing and embrace them,even just for a moment.Then start implementing things that support a new belief and put it to the test.Usually,limiting beliefs lose power as soon as we recognize they might not be true.When you realise you can change your life through your beliefs you will discover that you are so capable of erasing the toxic thoughts preventing you to fulfill your goals.
Understand that your thoughts are not facts.They may feel true but they don’t reflect the truth about you.
Continue the journey practicing new beliefs and challenge old ones.Celebrate your dedication, your wins and give yourself time…
